Proposal for Assuring Kemper’s Legacy through a
Strategic Partnership with Wentworth Military Academy
Sure, our schools were rivals on the “fields of friendly strife,” but they were united in their common mission of educating and preparing young men and women for success in life. The purpose of this proposal is to recommend a strategic alliance between the Alumni of KMS and WMA that assures the legacy of the former and the future of the latter.
When Northwestern Military and Naval Academy in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, closed its doors, it assured its legacy by merging with St. John’s Military Academy. While the merger of the Wentworth and Kemper names is unlikely, as it would involve a level of integration made difficult by Kemper’s inactive status, there nonetheless is potential for the Kemper name to co-exist with Wentworth’s.
As a first step, we would propose the development of a Kemper Scholarship Fund that would underwrite the cost of cadets referred by Kemper alumni or the relatives of Kemper alumni who attend WMA. These cadets would be permitted to wear the crest of both schools on their uniforms.
Other collaborative initiatives are possible if we put our collective imaginations to work. For example, imagine a capital campaign among Kemper alumni to build a needed facility on WMA to be called Kemper Hall. Now imagine a building whose architecture emulates one of the prominent buildings on Kemper’s campus. In it is space for a museum in which the history and legacy of Kemper is preserved. Or imagine a separate museum – the AMAM or American Military Academies Museum – celebrating this unique institution’s role in American history and culture.
Wentworth stands ready to begin constructive dialogue immediately.

Missouri High School Football Helmets Project
Dear Kemper Alumni,
I am looking for pictures of the KMS High School Football Helmet(s). They can be game photos, player photos or what have you. The photos would be used to add KMS to the Missouri Helmet Project at http://wcmosports.com/helmetproject/
You will find helmets there from 96.4% of all the high schools in the state, including Missouri Military Academy and Wentworth Military Academy. I would like to see Kemper Military School represented as well.
If the helmet design changed over the course of the years, all variations can be displayed. Here are some examples from MMA (?-current) and WMA (?-2003, 2004 & 2005-current):
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Vietnam UH-1H Restoration Project
This is a Huey Restoration Group that I have been introduced to here in little old Peru, Indiana. They have been putting on various Auctions and Open Houses to drum up some support (and $$) to continue the restoration of the two UH-1H helicopters they've acquired through some interesting routes. One of them, #803, is actually flyable, but the original, #369 and the organization's namesake, is destined to remain a "museum."
These folks need some help in the way of membership, donations, and word-of-mouth to anyone you know who might be interested. If you know anyone who flew dust-off in Vietnam (or anywhere, really), this would likely interest them. The story at their web site is most interesting, but the in-person tour is much more so!
You can visit their web site at www.americanhuey369.org and read up on their activities and needs. Please forward this to your interested friends on your mailing list. Better yet, if you're available and live close enough, come to Peru, IN and enjoy the fun. They are also raffling off a car, a flight, and a quilt (which I've seen and its cool (not beautiful in the traditional sense - far more interesting than that!).
You can get more info at the web site or by calling (765)469-2727.
