The Kemper Military School Alumni Association:
Our Mission Statement:
The Kemper Military School Alumni Association
is dedicated in assuring that the legacy of the school lives on by building
a museum in Boonville, Missouri. We will help organize state and city Alumni
chapters. Through the help of the Alumni Chapters and the Kemper Alumni
Website, we intend to locate and contact “Lost Old Boys”. We will promote
the ideals and traditions of Prof. F.T. Kemper.
Letter From The President:
Dear Alumni and Friends,
When I was elected President by the Board of Directors last December, I knew
that the goal of the Board was to open a
Kemper Museum.
I believed that before we could pursue that goal, we needed to
organize and bring together the alumni.
In pursuit of this goal we are planning to implement a scholarship
fund to benefit family members of alumni to attend the Military School of
their choice, we held a successful annual meeting in Boonville, helped the
Class of 97 hold not one, but two reunions and we are holding a benefit
trap-shoot in October where we will compete against Wentworth.
We are also starting the process of working with Harris Publishing in
getting an alumni directory out (you will be sent info on that early next
year). We have also updated our
web page. Please check it out at
www.kemperalumni.net and while you are there update your contact
info and sign up for the Kemperite, our email newsletter which is our
primary form of communication.
You can also make a donation through Pay Pal and look at the message board
to see if anyone you know has surfaced.
Now it is
time to focus on plans for a museum so that Old Boys and their families will
have a place to come and see the items that show our proud heritage.
Although we have been able to rescue and preserve many of the artifacts and
other memorabilia that used to be proudly displayed on the walls and in the
trophy cases throughout our campus, the City of
Boonville
has been unable to agree on any type of development plan for the main
campus. The buildings and
grounds are showing signs of neglect that will bring tears to your eyes.
Since the school has closed, we have been patiently waiting to see
what would happen to our beloved campus before we made our plans. With the
rapid deterioration of the buildings and no viable plans in sight for
development that would work with us, I don’t think we can wait any longer.
In order to do this, we need your help.
We need your input on what your vision of a
Kemper
Museum is.
We also need contributions.
A contribution to your alumni Association now will help move our
organization forward and will be the start of the work we need to get done
if we ever want to see a permanent museum in place in a building of our own
or on the old campus. If you
would like to contribute to the Alumni Association, send donations to Kemper
Military School and College Alumni Association, C/O David Diehl, 32 Forest Knolls Est., Decatur, OL
62521-4422.
In
closing, I want to again urge you to visit our website at
www.kemperalumni.net and sign up for the emailed newsletter.
In order to cut down on costly mail outs such as this one, email is
our main way of communicating with you.
I truly believe that if everyone works together, we can still
preserve our traditions, foster our relationships with our fellow alumni,
and be an example for generations to come.
Kemper Proud,
